Readings are browser-observed, not lab-grade. The tester reports what the Gamepad API hands the page: button and axis state sampled on the frame loop, snapshot refresh counts, and press-detection gaps — all bounded by the display’s frame rate. USB polling rate, true end-to-end latency and hardware internals are below what any web page can see. Treat the numbers as a faithful view of the delivery layer, not a wire measurement of the pad.

A bad reading here is a strong hint, not a final verdict. Resting drift can come from wear, debris, a loose centering spring, an OS-level calibration, or a genuinely failing module — the stick drift guide helps separate them, but confirm a hardware fault on a second machine or a second browser before paying for a repair. Likewise, repair steps (shell disassembly, module soldering, contact cleaner) carry their own risks — warranty first when available, and OS settings menus shift between releases.
